On 14th of June 2017, “European Research Center” is newly set up in “Brightlands Chemelot Open Innovation Campus”.
In Europe, advanced automotive products tend to be introduced positively in the automobile market. As a result, technological innovation is progressing even in the field of automatic driving vehicles. Also, in the construction industry, the needs of building materials with state-of-the-art design is very strong in Europe.
Therefore, Sekisui S-LEC has decided to strengthen cooperation and integration with industry, government and academia, especially in the Netherlands, an advanced innovation developed country. We established the European Research Center for the purpose of developing and disseminating the new high-performance interlayers from Europe to the world.
Brightlands Chemelot Campus, together with the adjacent Chemelot Industrial Park, is one of the largest chemical and materials communities in Europe (8 km2) with more than 150 companies and a history of over 100 years. Its unique strong points are founded on world leading business positions and the associated unique knowledge in the field of performance materials, bio-based chemistry and materials, biomedical materials and R&D enabling competences including process technology and analytical chemical expertise. The Campus is an open innovation ecosystem in which the many forms of cooperation between tenants are all focused on accelerating innovation and business growth on the one hand and creating synergistic value on the other.
Royal DSM is a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials. DSM delivers innovative solutions that nourish, protect and improve performance in global markets such as food and dietary supplements, personal care, feed, medical devices, automotive, paints, electrical and electronics, life protection, alternative energy and bio-based materials. The DSM Innovation Center, located on the Brightlands Chemelot Campus, has two main functions. In the first place, it serves as a center of excellence to accelerate the innovation power and speed of our core businesses. In its second function, the Innovation Center has a business development role, focusing on areas outside the current scope of DSM’s business groups. Moreover, the Innovation Center is responsible for developing and extracting value from the company’s Emerging Business Areas (EBAs): DSM biomedical, DSM Bio-based Products & Services and DSM Advanced Solar.
