JCC /JETRO/KPMG Seminar
Towards sustainable management in the Netherlands
~Manage ESG risks, Securing human resources and Tax update~
JCC Investment Business Environment Subcommittee
Dear JCC member,
We are pleased to invite you to join the JCC /JETRO/KPMG Seminar on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
Starting from the Paris Agreement, the European Commission has been implementing several policy packages like the European Green Deal, Fit for 55 and the Sustainable Finance Action Plan.
A changing regulatory environment compounded by heightened expectations from stakeholder groups from investors to employees to customers has made ESG a business imperative that cannot be ignored. In addition, a successful ESG strategy has numerous benefits to overall business operations.
Based on this situation, we will introduce a general idea to identify, assess and manage the risks related to ESG.
We will also dive into areas that are especially expected to have important implications to Japanese companies in the Netherlands,
like Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
Besides ESG topics, we’re aware that companies in the Netherlands face difficulties in securing employees due to a significant increase in employee salary
caused by historical inflation and shortage of resources. For achieving sustainable management, it’s essential to secure human resources appropriately.
Reflecting this situation, we will introduce how to maintain competitive hiring conditions in the Netherlands.
As a closing topic, KPMG will describe the details of the recently published agenda for tax policy and implementation.
This agenda is a guiding document for the tax plans to be announced at Prinsjesdag – Budget Day – on the 3rd Tuesday of September and provides for an early update on anticipated legislation.
