Responsibilities & tasks:
-As part of the Operational Team (Office) handle all incoming and outgoing shipments in a timely and correct manner.
- Report directly to the Supervisor Operations.


The activities include among others:
•    Ensure a proper planning and handling of all types of incoming and outgoing shipments.
•    Maintain contact with transporters/carriers and customers, coordinate all shipments.
•    Prepare and take care of all customs-related documents as required per each type of shipment.
•    Instruct the warehouse regarding shipments, paperwork and orders from customers.
•    Negotiate terms and quotations with transporters/carriers.
•    Take care of data entry (Excel, specific software programs).
•    Create various kinds of reports for customers and company-internally.
•    Calculate fees and create quotations for customers.
•    Track & trace shipments.
•    Check & process incoming invoices.
•    Issue invoices to customers.
•    Assist drafting detailed work instructions and working out ideas for improvement of processes.
•    Execute all related administrative tasks.
     


Skills & requirements:
More general:
•    At least MBO educational level and two years’ experience as import/export officer.
•    At least three years’ experience in a logistics or freight forwarding environment.
•    Job-specific training such as IATA (I & II), import/export documents.
•    Language skills: good to excellent command of Dutch and English (verbally and in writing).
•    Advanced computer skills (at least workable knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook).
•    Ability to communicate with various groups internally as well as externally.
•    Strongly customer service minded (incl. proper way of communicating by e-mail and telephone).
•    Ability to be accurate and punctual.
•    Ability to work under pressure (speed/time limits).
•    Ability to work in an international (Japanese) environment and team.
•    Open, honest, flexible and pro-active character as well as way of thinking.
•    Practical/workable knowledge of customs clearance procedures & reporting.


Preferable skills & requirements:
•    Good experience with and knowledge of customs-related matters (tariff codes / Intrastat / customs clearance etc.).
•    Proficiency in other (European) languages.
•    Experience with and knowledge of the Infor and Exact system.

Nippon Express NEC Logistics Europe B.V. is looking for a new colleague (per immediately) seriously interested in a long-term job as Import/Export Officer for the Operational Team Office.
One will start out with fixed-term contracts that would become a permanent contract after proven ability. It’s in principle a full-time position (40 hours per week), regular working hours are between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. (or possibly a slightly different schedule from e.g. 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and the lunch break amounts to 30 minutes.
